The sermon frames the “culture war” under God’s sovereignty over every area of life and thought, starting with the biblical family: God made marriage as a one-flesh union (Gen. 2:18-24), affirmed by Christ (Matt. 19:4-6), with the husband as head as Christ is head of the church (1 Cor. 11:3; Col. 3:18-21). Because the family is central to advancing God’s kingdom, one of Satan’s chief aims is to destroy it, through infidelity, cohabitation, pre-marital sex, open relationships, “machismo,” feminism, the LGBT+ agenda, and abortion.
Fighting this culture war means putting on the whole armor of God and living out Ephesians 5:22-33, with husbands specifically called to lead sacrificially, loving their wives as Christ loved the church. The sermon laments that many men have abandoned this calling, becoming passive or effeminate, and calls the church, citing Malachi 4:5-6 and the qualifications for elders, to raise up godly men whose hearts are turned back to their families, since ultimately it is Christ, the good shepherd, or chaos.
