People often think of salvation as a remedy for the visible fruits of sin—poverty, crime, injustice—but the sermon calls this a false salvation because it never touches the root problem: that all have fallen short of the glory of God. God’s salvation instead deals with that root, because there is salvation in no other name than Jesus Christ.
Having been saved, believers are described as being changed ‘from glory to glory,’ progressively transformed as they behold the Lord, built up through the ministry Christ gave His church until they reach unity and maturity in Him. Salvation is not only a rescue from sin’s penalty but an ongoing work God administers in His people’s lives.
